Ray Rico Freelance Reaches Five-Year Milestone
Posted by: SarahBaker | May 1, 2012
As part of freelance graphic designer Ray Rico’s celebration of five years in business, he’s recently joined the Cooper-Young Business Association.
“It’s starting to get busy, so I decided to join the Business Association,” Rico said. “Just more exposure and also to get more involved with the community as a business.”
Rico’s specialties include branding and design, printing, social media strategy and website building. Basically a miniature design agency he operates out of his Cooper-Young home.
“I’m kind of like a small marketing firm because I have people that work with me that kind of help with website design and graphic design, too,” Rico said. “It kind of started out as a freelance business and it’s starting to grow. I’m not a full-fledged agency yet per say, but those are my goals.”
Clients Rico works or has worked for include Memphis Orthopaedic Group, CFI Prosthetics-Orthotics, Ai Bionics, Agility Financial Credit Union, Leadership Memphis, MPACT Memphis, MetroCare Physicians, Memphis Health + Fitness Magazine, skirt! magazine and Friends for Life Corp.
Rico’s dream is to open a storefront in the Cooper-Young neighborhood later this year. He’s already started looking at spaces, but hasn’t yet found the ideal retail combination of right location and reasonable rental rates.
“Hopefully, we can do something bigger this fall,” Rico said. “I’m still not decided. Just keeping my options open. I’d love to be on a facing street of Cooper or Young, that’s my ultimate goal.”
